The spectacular new Palm Beach Aquatic and Community Centre is an inclusive, multi-use aquatic, health and community centre designed to service the needs of the growing Gold Coast population.
Goldi worked with the main contractor, design team, asset custodians and City of Gold Coast to develop a comprehensive wayfinding and signage program to complement the precinct design and meet the enhanced accessibility requirements.
Wayfinding integrates with and overlays the modernist architecture with functional, minimalist and colourful elements that welcome the community in a playful way, connecting people and place, enhancing the experience, and promoting leisure and fun.
The identity for Palm Beach Aquatic & Community Centre fits within the City of Gold Coast brand guidelines while enhancing placemaking and aligning with the project vision. Simple forms inspired by the repetition & cycle of swimming laps are used within the signage shapes, and placemaking pattern reflecting the flow are used in feature graphics in the exterior and carpark.
The green colour palette references the muted greens of neighbouring native tree species located in the Beree-badalla Reserve and harmonise with the environment, bedding the aquatic centre and signage with its natural setting.
“The look and feel of the new centre reflects the culture, climate, and character of the southern Gold Coast.” – CoGC Mayor Tom Tate.
